Spam Calls to Hit Nearly 50% of All Calls by 2019 Robocalls are getting
much worse. A report by the call protection company, First Orion, claims you should expect more fake calls to come. The number of spam phone calls are expected to reach 45% of all dials by early 2019. By the end of next year, half of all calls are predicted to be spam. Many fake calls have adapted a tactic known as “neighborhood spoofing.” This encourages people to pick up calls by having a fake caller ID similar to their own number. Scammers have shifted almost exclusively to calling mobile customers. The FTC has received 63,000 complaints regarding illegal robocalls each month
in 2009. That number surged to 375,000 complaints
in 2017. The FCC, FTC and other government agencies are trying to hammer out solutions with companies in the
private sector.
